Makeup Monday – Murad Talk

Hello & Happy Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend and enjoyed your extra hour of sleep; I know I did! Today is Monday so, of course, that means it’s time for another Makeup Monday. Today we are talking about two products that I got from Sephora about a week ago.

Let’s go.

STILA STAY ALL DAY

*I took two picture for this product and they both came out blurry. Sorry 😦

I am one of those people that jumped on the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper (satin black) when it came out and had been using it ever since. That eyeliner is just the bee’s knees, and there is a reason so many people love it. Sadly, I ran out of it about two weeks ago and figured I would try a new liquid eyeliner. I have heard really good things about the Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner, so I picked it up in color Jet Black.

I used my new shiny eyeliner on Friday before going out to dinner, and I didn’t like it. The packaging is similar to the Kat Von D liner; it has that spring loaded tip to prevent dry out, but I found myself struggling to apply. The felt tip is not sturdy enough for me, very lose and messy on the eye. Plus, by the time I got to the second eye, there was no product left on the tip, and it was dry and rough.

Cost comparison, the Kat Von D liner is $20 for .7 oz and the Stila is $22 for .5 oz. Clearly, the Kat Von D liner is a better price for the amount of product you get. I personally think the Kat Von D liner is also a better liner, but I do plan to use the Stila liner until it’s gone.

MURAD

Murad Rapid Age Spot Lightening Serum

If you have been following LoveMelissaMichelle on YouTube for a long time, you know what Murad is. I have been wanting to try the Rapid Age Spot and Pigment Lightening Serum for quite some time now but have always passed due to the very large price tag.

When I was at Sephora, I found a tiny little bottle in the checkout line, which has a lot of travel size products and decided to get it a try. I watched some YouTube videos on it before using it just to understand the product more.

This serum cost $60 for 1 oz or $96 for 2 oz. The one I bought is .33 oz for $9 and can be found at both Ulta and Sephora in the check out area.

APPLICATION

This product contains 2% Hydroquinone which is an active ingredient that diminishes the look of existing dark stops, age spots, and freckles, i.e. acne spots. You apply this once a day during your night time routine to the entire face.

I use the serum after I tone with Witch Hazel and before my moisturizer only to the cheeks area. I do not want to fade my freckles or apply such a harsh product to my entire face, and most of my acne spots are along the jaw line and on the cheeks. I do plan to discontinue using this product once my dark spots have faded. I still struggle with acne, so I understand more dark spots are going to form, but I don’t plan on using this consistently for an extended period of time.

Sidenote: Murad also has a product just for acne spots which you use twice, in the morning & night, instead of only once.

Hydroquinone is a very strong chemical which is why getting a product with more than 2% must come from a dermatologist. The max amount of Hydroquinone a product can contain is 4% which gives you a better understanding of why this product costs so much and can fade dark spots very fast.

THOUGHTS:

I have been using the serum for three days now and so far have not seen any changes in my skin but I will continue to update you with progress.

This serum cost $60 for 1 oz or $96 for 2 oz. The one I bought is .33 oz for $9 and can be found at both Ulta and Sephora in the check out area.

That is all I have for you on this beautiful Monday. I have you all have a wonderful night, and I will see you back here later this week for some more goodies!
