Posted while recovering from a very busy weekend.
Happy Monday my lovely followers! It is Monday which means it’s time for another Makeup Monday to sooth your Monday blues. My weekend was very busy, so I only have two product to talk about today since my trip to Ulta was a short one.
If you have read my past few posts, you know that I have been on a huge Smashbox kick lately and it continues today. I was in the market for a new bronzer since I KILLED my Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer so I picked up the Smashbox Bronze Lights in color Warm Matte (neutral bronze) for $34 at Ulta.
The bronzer warms up the face without that orange color some bronzers tend to have. The formula is very smooth and applies very nicely to the face without getting patchy or chunky. It is also very pigmented and can easily be built up for a deeper bronze/tan look.
This is the kind of bronzer that you can use to fake a tan with by putting some on the cheeks and forehead, but I also use it to contour. I always use bronzer to contour because I don’t have time to do both contouring and bronzing and this product gets the job done.
*I use the Sonia Kashuk Large Angled Contour Brush No. 113.
I have wanted to try the Liquid Lipsticks by Jouer Cosmetics for awhile now (mentioned this in my Makeup I Want To Try post), so I was super excited when the two colors I ordered online (Cabernet and Cassis) came in the mail last week. I was 10 pm your homegirl was looking like a hot mess after a very long day, but I just had to try them on.
It was a HUGE disappointment, and I was so so so so so upset. The formula of Cabernet is hands down the most drying liquid lip I have ever used, it was sticky at the same time, and it very very patchy. It felt like I had rubbed a glue stick on my lips. I immediately took it off (with some Vaseline) and tried on the Cassis color, and it wasn’t at all the same formula. It wasn’t overly dry or sticky; it wasn’t patchy, and I thought I loved the color.
In my bathroom (where the lighting is terrible) I loved the color, in natural daylight, it was way too pink for me. Overall, I am not impressed with these products which I know is an unpopular opinion since I have heard people rave about how great they are. What are your thoughts?
Thank you for stopping by Touch of Tay on this beautiful Monday, and I will see you back here on Friday for a Fresh Finds Friday post!
