Hello and Welcome to Touch of Tay, thank you for stopping by! If you are new to my blog, you should know that we talk about Makeup all the time but especially on Monday’s during Makeup Monday! Monday’s can be a drag which it why we like to cheer up with some new products and reviews.
Let’s get going.
Last week, in my Fresh Finds Friday post, I mentioned that I went to Ulta and got a lot of new goodies from Ulta. I had just gotten my hair done, and I was on a high and couldn’t pass up stopping at Ulta. I went in looking for hydrating products because I have been experiencing extremely dry skin, especially around my eyes.
Not too long ago I told you guys that I thought the dryness around my eye was due to the Aveeno BB Cream that I was using while on vacation but I got another flare up a few weeks ago and another one over the weekend. While trying to get to the bottom of what is going on, I need products that are very hydrating.
I hit the jackpot when I visited the Smashbox isle; it seemed like every product they had was geared toward moisturizing the skin. I was looking for a new primer since the Make UP For Ever Step 1 primer I have been using for a long time it just way too drying for me right now.
I have always heard really good things about the Smashbox primers which is why the brand came to mind when I decided I needed a new one.
I picked up the:
Photo Finish Primer in Hydrating – $42 for 1 oz (link)
Photo Finish Hydrating Under Eye Primer – $29 for .33 oz (link)
Studio Skin 15 Hour Wear Hydrating Foundation in color 2.15 (cool light beige)- $42 for 1 oz (link)
I was so excited when I found all these hydrating products in one place by one brand and didn’t have to go searching through a bunch of brands. These products are expensive, especially the eye primer but a little bit does go a long way which might help you justify the price.
I have been using all three products in combination with each other for the past three days, and so far everything has been going well. I have no worn the foundation for 15 hours yet, the longest I have worn it was on Friday when I had it on for about 12 hours. This foundation also claims that it will look good in every light, including fluorescent light which is a huge plus for me since I spend eight plus hours in an office building filled with ugly fluorescent lights.
I also really like that this foundation does not contain parabens, sodium lauryl sulfate, phthalates, fragrance or oil. There are sp many chemicals in the makeup we put on our faces everyday why not try to avoid some, right?
This foundation line offers 22 different shades which is awesome, and I love how they numbered them with decimals, so it actually makes sense. I was able to find my shade pretty quickly (2.15 – cool light beige), but I think I could go a little bit darker since I use a fake tanner.
Overall I am loving these Smashbox products. The liquid lipstick I bought a few weeks ago was the first Smashbox product I have ever purchased, and now I am just on a roll. I will keep you updated as I continue to wear these products and if my opinion changes.
If you have dry/combination skin, I think this foundation will work for you since it has been working for me. If you have oil skin, the wear time might not be as long, but you could always touch up with a powder or a blotting sheet.
Thanks for stopping by on this beautiful Monday and have a wonderful rest of your day. I will see you back here Wednesday for a review on the Loving Tan 2 Hour Express Deluxe Bronzing Tanning Mousse!
